Beach Cleanup and Eco Art Workshop

Sat, September 21, 2024 10:00 AM - Sat, September 21, 2024 5:00 PM at Sterling State Park, Lake Erie

We invite students and staff/faculty to a Beach Cleanup at Lake Erie and a free Eco-Art Workshop in which attendees will repurpose plastic litter to make picture frames. These events are in partnership with Hannah Tizedes, MSU alumni and former SSRC employee. Hannah is the founder of The Cleanup Club and an artist with a unique mosaic-inspired style.

Hop on the bus provided by SSRC and travel with fellow students to Sterling State Park for a beach cleanup targeting microplastics. Participants will use buckets, sifters, and gloves or pickers to collect bits and pieces of plastic and other litter. The group will inventory, weigh, and categorize the items collected, then Hannah will submit the findings to databases for Great Lakes plastic pollution research and advocacy efforts. Registration is requiredFor more information visit Surplus and Recycling
