MSU is building the roadmap to a global, sustainable future through the integration of Campus, Curriculum, Community, and Culture; the 4 C’s. The Office of Sustainability serves as coordinators, conveners and communicators for MSU sustainability-related activity across university functions and colleges, divisions, and departments. The office cultivates and embeds sustainability in all areas of operation and strategy at the university. MSU Sustainability in Action enables students, faculty, staff and alumni to:
THINK systemically in problem solving and decision making;
ACT as leaders in adopting sustainable practices and efficiencies; and
INSPIRE others in taking action to reduce their global carbon footprint
The Michigan State University Campus Sustainability Student Project Fund, also known as the “Student Green Fund” supports student-driven projects that reduce the university’s carbon footprint while preparing the leaders of tomorrow to find creative, sustainable solutions to complex problems. Projects focus on food systems, waste reduction, renewable energy, sustainable transportation, water resource protection, biodiversity and other sustainability issues.
Through these immersive learning experiences, students develop leadership, collaboration and problem-solving skills that will propel them into their future careers. Student engagement and experiential learning are important elements of MSU’s successful sustainability program. MSU recently achieved a Gold STARS rating and was ranked for the second consecutive year in the Princeton Review Top 50 Green Colleges in 2020. The Student Green Fund is administered through the Office of Sustainability.
Your donation will support student-led sustainability projects that enhance the student experience and better MSU’s campus. Invest in students that will lead the way and inspire others to a global sustainable future.
This opportunity has made me more confident to take on a career when I graduate. I have learned many new skills on how to communicate, manage projects, and organize meetings. It’s helped me translate what I have learned in school to real life jobs.
