Domicology: Opportunities, Markets, and Innovations

Fri, May 17, 2019 9:00 AM - Fri, May 17, 2019 2:00 PM at Kellogg Center Lincoln Room, 219 S Harrison Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823

Economic decline, disinvestment, natural disasters, and the effect of online purchasing on store closures have left communities with unprecedented amounts of structural debris, abandonment, and blight. How could a new paradigm called ‘Domicology’ turn this around?

The Michigan State University Center for Community and Economic Development will be hosting an event to highlight advancements in the realm of Domicological research, policy, and practice. We will be discussing progress in the theory and practice of reducing structural abandonment while increasing material salvage.

Dr. Rex LaMore, the director of the MSU Center for Community Economic Development, and a member of the faculty of the Urban & Regional Planning Program, will be speaking.

Target Audience: Private industry, scholars, policy makers, state & local government officials, historic preservationists, architects, builders, contractors, reuse industry professionals, community organizations and others concerned with blight and abandonment as well as structural material reuse and salvage.
