MSU Science Festival

The MSU Science Festival, celebrated annually throughout the month of April, is a free annual celebration of science, fueled by some of the basic elements essential to scientific inquiry: curiosity, wonder, and discovery. The 12th annual science festival returns in person this year with over 200 events to enjoy.

Red Cedar River Environmental Walking Tour

April 5, 2 - 3:30 pm @ Main Library Lobby

Take a tour on the banks of the Red Cedar and learn about the environmental history of the river at the heart of MSU’s campus. This 1.2 mile round-trip walk will start at the MSU Main Library and loop from the Kalamazoo Street Bridge to Farm Lane and back, with stops to describe some interesting historical and environmental features of the river

Go Green, Go Earth: ASMSU Environmental Resource Fair

April 9, 4:30 - 7:30 pm @ Munn Ice Area

Join ASMSU Sustainability, campus partners, and student groups for an evening of sustainable activities and learn about ways to be Spartan green. There will be food, giveaways, games and crafts. Come experience the Dairy Store's featured flavor for Earth Month, 'Think Green Chip"

Spartan Day of Service

April 12, 8 - 2:00 pm @ Minskoff Pavilion

Community service is an integral component of the student experience at MSU. Spartan Days of Service is a perfect way for students, groups of friends or organizations to get involved and make an impact in the local community. Projects are open to all students and include transportation, a light breakfast, a bagged lunch and a t-shirt for the day. There are opportunities for everyone to get involved and make a difference!

The Student Horticulture Association 37th Annual Spring Show and Plant Sale will take place April 12-13th! We truly enjoy meeting fellow plant enthusiasts and look forward to sharing our plant knowledge with you all.

Earth Bash

April 12, 12 - 4 pm @ Surplus Store and Recycling Education Center

Celebrate all things reduce, reuse, recycle with a day at the campus recycling center and thrift store. Go secondhand shopping, tour the material recovery facility and vermicompost hoophouse, make upcycled crafts, deconstruct electronics to discover more about e-waste, and enjoy some freecycling! Deep Rooted Tour Series

April 12, 1 - 2 pm, meet @ Broad Art Museum

What can art tell us about the relationship between plants and humans? Join Maeve Bassett, Applied Ethnobotanist and Education Director of the Beal Botanical Garden, for an immersive tour unearthing the historical, social, and political narratives growing within works of art from the MSU Broad Art Museum’s collection. Registration for this free tour is encouraged.

Clothing Repair-A-Thon

April 15, 2 - 4 pm, meet @ Makerspace Flex Space Classroom

Patch those holes in your favorite clothes! Repair your ripped jeans and replace those shirt buttons! Come as a beginner, a seasoned expert, or anywhere in between! Gain or give hands-on help in the Makerspace with your item. We have a variety of equipment and supplies. Bring clothing you need to repair, or come to learn techniques. Mending is a fun way to save money and the environment.

Midday Movement Series by University Health and Wellbeing

Take a movement break with these free group fitness classes inside MSU’s Main Library! Join us the third Wednesday of the month for variety of classes to help you get moving this spring.

Green Financial Resource Fair: Financing Your Future

April 16, 6 - 8 pm @ Green Room (Main Library, 4 West)

Come celebrate April as financial literacy month and enter for your chance to earn one of four - $500 scholarships or one of the available prizes! Participate in four interactive stations focused on budgeting, student loans, checking/savings accounts, and credit! Check out available resources to support you as a student at MSU!
Complementary food and beverages and other prizes!

An Evening of Bike Tales by Authors Maynard Hershon and Dave Stanley

April 18, 6 - 8 pm @ Erickson Hall Kiva

Come out for an evening of reading tales of the joys of biking by two Flint natives who are known around the country for their great stories that cover the full field of bicycling, from pro-racing in the USA and Europe, to delightful tales of bike shop shenanigans. Maynard Hershon's monthly columns in Winning Magazine and Bicycle Racing Illustrated back in the 80's into the 90's delighted thousands around the country. Many of those stories ended up in his book "Tales from the Bike Shop" and "Half Wheel Hell and Other Cycling Stories".

Arbor Day

April 25, 12 - 2 pm Riverbank @ Red Cedar River

Infrastructure Planning & Facilities and Landscape Services welcomes you as our guest to support the promise of keeping MSU green for future Spartan generations. Join the MSU Landscapers installing native plant material along the riverbank, creating a new pollinator garden on April 25th, 2025 at 12pm along the banks of the Red Cedar River between Kellogg Ramp and Jenison Field House in lot 67 for the annual Arbor Day planting.
